29TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Minutes

 

Attendance:

1.         Registration and Hospitality took place at 8:30.

 

2.         Sharon Burrill chaired the Presidents’ Meeting for an ailing Bev McCann. 

 

3.         The Ottawa group commenced with an Ice Breaker.

 

4.                  Participants were welcomed by Paulette Bourré, the Ottawa Presidents and the Conference Committee were introduced.  Housekeeping matters were addressed.

                                   

5.                  Greetings from Governor General Micaelle Jean and Mayor Bob Chiarelli were shared with the group.

 

6.                  NNCC BUSINESS MEETING:

·                    Susan Owen welcomed participants and thanked the Ottawa group for their wonderful organization and hospitality.   She shared the history of National, introduced her board and had each board member provide a report of their activities and challenges over the past year.  Their reports will be archived in original form with these minutes.

·                    Acceptance of the minutes from last year’s Truro AGM were moved by Jeanne and seconded by Beryl.  Approved.

·                    Bylaw changes were explained by Susan Owen and all present were in favour of the changes.

·                    Nominations from the floor were accepted for the open positions on council:

·                    Bernice McNulty from Burlington was nominated for Registrar/Treasurer and accepted.

·                    Sarah Larz from Kingston was nominated for Central Liaison and accepted.

·                    Sheila King from Ottawa was nominated for Member at Large and accepted.

Participants were encouraged to approach Council Executives individually at any time during the day if they needed more information before allowing their name to stand.

Council for 2007 will be presented at the conclusion of the festivities.

 

7.                  Round Table Discussions: records will be forwarded with the surveys to NNCC.

10.             Entertainment:  Musical Group

 

11.             Susan Owen performed the Introduction of NNCC executive for 2006-2007:

The first meeting of the new executive followed immediately after the meeting with the next one scheduled for December 3rd at Verna Dennis’ home in Mississauga.

 

12.             London Alumnae sent greetings and an invitation to all to join Bev McCann and their club on October 12th and 13th for the next Annual General Meeting.
